Why Are Car Sales Down?
Besides the COVID-19 pandemic significantly reducing travel and causing an increased concern about spending, some experts believe that there are other reasons for low sales. Falling demand and increased tariffs with China have reduced sales to that country, and increased environmental awareness has decreased the sales of vehicles that use diesel engines. Creating affordable and environmentally-friendly vehicles has proven challenging for auto manufacturers, and many are not yet set up for creating large numbers of electric cars. Car manufacturers also face a future in which self-driving cars may decrease the need for personal vehicles.

Summary
While Ford is still one of the top auto manufacturers globally, its numbers have begun to fall since the pandemic started, and it has sold just over 4 million cars. In previous years, it would have sold more than 6 million. Unfortunately, restrictions on travel and many people being out of work have significantly reduced the need for new cars. Political problems on the world stage have also reduced Ford’s ability to sell as many cars. However, since it introduced the Model T, the Ford company has been at the forefront of innovation, and with the move to electric cars on the horizon, there is a good chance that Ford will pioneer the way and increase its sales.
